Our experiences have shown that when a language is only learned online and without a trainer, the motivation falls and falls and in the end no more progress takes place. Many emerging issues need to be addressed alone with difficulty or are not clarified at all.
Most online programmes provide language learning only in the chosen language. We indulged in the fun and booked a Russian course at a famous online language learning system. We enthusiastically learned and pronounced for about 4 weeks, but we lacked a book in which we were able to do exercises. This online programme offered only the chosen language and pictures and individual words. Grammar was taught very, very extensively and cumbersomely. Since then we have lost the desire to continue. There were even live sessions offered with an instructor, but again these meetings were only in the chosen language and when we spoke English, we were relatively unfriendly reminded to speak only in the chosen language. How can a beginner accomplish that?
